Did I make a mistake?

I’m (26F) a junior engineer working for 1 year and 10 months. I got a scholarship to go abroad and study and came back to work for the company that gave the scholarship. Initially I was really grateful to have received the scholarship because student loans to go to university in my country would have left me in debt, but once I came back home to work it’s like I woke up from a dream into reality. I was on a temporary contract for months (renewed every 2-3 months) so I didn’t receive any benefits (medical etc). I wasn’t even working in my field of study (chemical eng). About a year in i got the opportunity to work in a different department..I was hesitant because again it wouldn’t be in my field but it came with a better contract better pay (almost tripled ) and benefits so naturally I was inclined to take it. Now I’m struggling in the new department because I didn’t go to school for this new post (mechanical and reliability eng) It’s possible to learn from other senior engineers in the department and I have more room to do actual engineering (work on projects) but it’s just not in my field of study. My problem now is I worry I won’t be able to find a job in the chemical field with a bulk of my experience being in reliability..or I can’t find a job in reliability field because my school background is in chemistry. Personally taking the post has been beneficial to my well-being and familiy’s but I’m starting to think it was maybe a mistake..
I want to add that I want to go back to school for my masters but I’m not sure what to get it in that will compliment this background I have.
If anyone with more experience has any advice I’d be so grateful.
