I’ve got a job in an industry that aligns with my values and passions but still don’t feel fulfilled. What should I explore?

A bit about me: I’m 27 from Australia. I have a masters degree in Environment and Sustainability (and bachelors in literature and politics). I’m currently working for a climate change think tank based at a uni that provides policy advice to government and industry to decarbonise. It’s a well respected organisation in the field, a growing org, and great values and people.

However idk I just don’t feel fulfilled! I’ve been in my role for 6 months now in the stakeholder engagement team (so connecting our research with stakeholders who need to hear it). It’s important work and I love the people but I just don’t feel that drive that I had throughout uni or growing up in this role.

Other things I’m into:

– Really enjoy writing. Have published original research as first author in a well respected journal. For a while I thought journalism or storytelling would be my thing (I’ve worked in comms in the past too) but there’s always been an element of imposter syndrome with my writing, and feeling like I don’t have a unique perspective or that my writing isn’t good.
– Love facilitating and teaching — I got to teach a uni subject my company co-runs which was good fun
– I’m gay, a person of colour, and an introvert — and through all these I’ve always been big on empowering people to use their strengths and be the best version of themselves because growing up I had literally zero role models who looked like me. Love coaching and empowering people
– I don’t mean to sound cocky but I enjoy intellectually stimulating work which I just don’t feel in my current role. Though I don’t know if I’d enjoy a more technical role in the org because part of me feels like I’d just be masquerading as a scientist lol. Definitely need something fast paced as I’m bored easily.
– I feel like I’d love to be in politics if it was less toxic. If it was genuinely about people coming together to improve society then it would be ideal for me, but the way it is at the moment I wouldn’t be a good fit in the political system.
– I can imagine myself doing a PhD at some point down the line just cos it seems like the kind of thing I’d do hahah, but not for the time being though since I don’t have an area I’d want to specialise in that deeply.

Any advice on things to explore or career paths to look into? I’m lost!
