I have an associates in biology (general program, not specialized). Don’t want to waste the money and time I invested into it (paid off the debt for it). What bachelors degree would yield a decent (in relation to current inflation) return on investment?

I’d like to get a bachelors degree. Not sure if I can go onto a masters degree after that (costly and the time and dedication for it). I’d like to apply what I learned with my associates in biology to a bachelor’s degree of some sort but I just don’t know what.

I’ve heard time and time again not to get a bachelors degree in biology, math, physics, chemistry, etc. because it WILL require a masters degree to find a job/career that pays well. I want to dedicate myself to a bachelor’s degree program that will yield a good return on investment in relation to today’s inflation. And I know that looks different for everyone’s spending habits, living accommodations, bills, financial goals, where they live, etc.

I live in Arizona. But I might like to move out of state someday (not California, but close). I’d like to be able to save some money. Travel a little bit. But I don’t want a big fancy home, cars, etc. I live a modest lifestyle and even if I won the lottery tomorrow I would still be living a modest lifestyle. I don’t even mind living in an apartment or a nice manufactured home. I like living in modest housing. They’re easier to take care of as a single, childless person.

But living as a single person means all the bills will come down to me. I’m not going to count on the idea of marriage or roommates to help me afford things. I want to be financially independent.

Does anyone have any ideas on what direction I can take my associate’s in general biology? Should I just get a better/specialized associates degree? Should I get some kind of bachelors degree related to biology? For a millennial I’m very computer illiterate. I can troubleshoot some things but other than that I’m bad at computer things. I can learn though! I really like science and math so it’s a shame that hardly any careers come out for those at the bachelor’s degree level of education.

Other information for context: I’m in my 30s, I’m a woman, I got my associates degree almost 10 years ago (I confirmed with some local universities that my classes will transfer except for the computer classes because that information is outdated), live in Arizona

I mention that I’m a woman because I really don’t want to go into any trades. Too hard on my body and I’ve already done a lot of physically strenuous jobs. Plus they’re male-dominated and I was sexually harassed at one of my previous jobs so I will not throw myself into the lion’s den again. No thanks.

Skills that I have: I know mild Powerpoint, Word, and Excel things. I have cashiering experience. And I have animal care/adoption/animal shelter experience.
