I’m a failed dentist. Should I work for my dad?

I’m a failed dentist considering working for her father.

I have a Master’s Degree in Dentistry and worked as a general dentist for 3+ years. I HATED every second of it. I felt constantly stressed, depressed and anxious.

I decided to quit dentistry and decided to go back to school to study Management (at night). By that time, I asked my dad (who owns a business in clothing production) to work for him, since I was unemployed and had no idea what to do.

However, it seemed to me that he didn’t really want me there. At first he said that he didn’t have a position available until next month, but a month later he started saying that I wouldn’t have a good salary and other weird justifications. It crossed my mind that maybe he was ashamed that his daughter who is a “DOCTOR” would work there.

I took a Postgraduate Course in Management and started a new job as a sales representative at another company. It was weird for me to be working so hard for another business when I could be helping my dad.

Almost a year later my mom talked to me and said that my dad *really* needs someone to help him out at the company, to work in the office, someone trustworthy. She said that he would like me to be that person.

I’m very confused and don’t know what to do. I would love to work with him but I’m afraid he kinda doesn’t want me there. Otherwise why hasn’t he talked to me yet about this?? Should I talk to him? And if so, how can I approach this??
