What should I consider when negotiating stock packages at larger companies?

this is all very new territory to me and I have picked up bits and pieces from googling and conversations but looking for honest experiences and learnings here.

Have you ever negotiated stock packages with larger companies (not start ups) as part of your benefits and what would you advise to consider? Ot what are some rule of thumb things one can ask?

I heard the time until you can cash them out is a factor. Can I ask for stocks that I could cash immediately? Would this be a common ask?

Do you ask for stock in a cash amount or a number of individual stocks?
