Is it better to become a speech pathologist or reading specialist?

Hello, I work in schools and I love the environment, I’m just trying to make some decisions. I work as a substitute teacher now. I am taking classes for speech therapy programs, but I’ve heard a lot of cons (mainly burnout from high caseloads/bringing work home, etc).

I do not have a teaching license, so I would have to go back to school for that, but since I’m going back either way, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t know if it’s wasteful to go for a teaching degree to use for a specialist position or if it’s something experienced teachers transition into.

What’s important to me is the work-life balance (I especially do not want to bring work home with me), job stability and flexibility. Which is a better field to go into?
