Is it time for a career change? (Long)

I’m 27, currently working in the veterinary field as a technician (nurse) at a specialty hospital. I’ve been a vet tech for 5 years and with no schooling I’ve made my way up the ladder. Starting wage at 22 was $14/hr, currently making $26/hr. I have the option to complete a self paced degree program that would most likely boost me to maybe $32-$35/hr once I’m finished. I’ll have an opportunity to specialize after that, whether it’s in anesthesia, rehab, cardio, anything really. The hourly wage at that point goes up to roughly $40, maybe $45/hr. Not too bad.

However, and this is a big however, I feel bored. I feel bored, unfulfilled, drained, and just done with it. Anyone who’s done the work before knows that medicine, veterinary or human is a fucking drain on the mind and body. I’m looking for a way out.

As mentioned before I don’t have a degree, and I also don’t qualify for FAFSA due my immigration status here in the U.S.

I’ve always dreamt of doing something huge with my life, not just for my own benefit but for everyone else’s. My parents used to tell me repeatedly that I’d never amount to anything, and I have that to thank for my unrelenting and annoying ambition.

The question I have for you all is what the fuck do I do with this background? I’m very science oriented and I love working with my hands. I enjoy doing things that are difficult and don’t get stressed easily. I enjoy doing/studying the unusual, for example the cannabis industry is incredibly attractive to me. Based on quizzes I’ve taken I fall under the INTJ category but I take that with a grain of salt. I can see myself in a leadership position but I do just as well as someone on the ground that does the hard work. ROI is important.

Any advice is appreciated!
