So I sent my boss an email last night regarding a salary increase since I’ve been with the firm for a year now. My assumption was that it’s customary to receive a salary increase after a year but I’m also aware that he is not legally obligated to do so. He didn’t respond to email and even tho I know I should give him some time to think it over, I’m now wondering if asking was a good idea. At best, I’ve done okay at my job, on average, I’ve been mediocre and at worst, I’ve been lazy. But now I’m wondering if that could leave a bad taste in his mouth? I’m also wondering if asking really considering the worst that can happen is that I don’t get the raise and he ignores my request.
