Told to prepare for layoffs on the first week of a new job. Should I leave?

After being unemployed since getting laid off in January, I finally got employed on a 12 month contract in one of the top companies in tech.

I’m barely a week into the job and just had the boss asking me to brace for a massive layoff exercise after the company has been successfully acquired, which is likely to happen in the next couple of months.

Should I stay or start looking for another job elsewhere?
