I’ve had a group of people who badmouthed me throughout college with false rumors and actually caused me to lose my friends. I am worried they will go as far as getting me fired from my current job. I am afraid to put my job on LinkedIn and network more. I see them looking at my LinkedIn. Should I be worried about the possibility of them talking to my company and getting me fired? Does HR and supervisors take baseless claims seriously? I have no way of reconciling with these people because I think they believe the rumors to be true. I’ve laid low instead of being assertive and am not sure if that was the best response in retrospect.
