I’m worried about a tendency I have to make simple and careless mistakes when doing math. I’m hoping if I teach something simple enough and can check my answer it won’t be too much of a problem. I do like social studies more, but am very quiet and feel that involves more talking. I also know math teachers are more in demand. This has me leaning towards math but I’m still undecided. This would be for secondary education, 7-12.
I also am wondering how likely I am to get a job if I major in social studies and just get certified in math through testing vs if I major in math education from the start. Do schools care? That way I could take a chance doing social studies and still have the employability of math.
I am in pennsylvania.
