I was working in healthcare for the last 4 years and decided it was not for me.
I quit my job last year and started to research career paths that interested me. I was always the go-to person for tech. issues at our clinic since we didn’t have anyone on-site to help with computer issues. I enjoyed doing that a lot more than my actual job and so I went back to school last year to get my bachelors in IT.
Of course, over the last year, the job market in the tech industry took a huge hit with the massive layoffs that occurred. It’s hard not to think that this isn’t a great time to be going into IT. I keep having doubts of my future and wondering if I should look into something else. It’s very worrisome to read the daily posts of people being laid off or the difficulty they’re having finding a job in this field.
The problem is, I don’t have anything else I’m interested in. I never had a passion that led me to a specific career or a vision of what I would like to do. Now, being in my early 30’s, I’m starting to feel more lost and more pressure to figure it out.
so, how did you guys “figure it out”? what led you guys to the career that you enjoyed? Should I stick out my current path despite the current market?
