Having worked in government and private sector, I am considering non-profits for my next position. I’ve heard some negative feedback from friends to avoid non-profits because they are dysfunctional. It can’t be all of them, right?
What should I look for to avoid a bait and switch, before joining a non-profit? That is, a non-profit that presents as normal and functional, but that really has major organizational issues. Aside from checking 990s, what else should I research?
